With the beginning of a new decade came the end of a semester in Central Middle School Drama. We put on 4 class showcases full of breakdancing, improv comedy, rapping, magic, singing, songwriting and plenty of FOG MACHINE! It is rather scary to think I am spawning little mini me's to perform... watch out. These kids have a lot of TALENT! More than I do!! The future of performing arts looks bright*

After the Curtain Closed in Class, I hopped on a plane to NEW YORK CITY for the weekend to catch up with old friends, bought some GAGA shades on the street corner and saw HAIR on Broadway. It was a blast. At the end, the audience gets to go onstage!!! You bet I jumped at the chance. Even got to go backstage to hang out with an old Child's Play Alumni. Very cool. I should have worn my new rock star shades.

So I said bye bye to NYC and returned home to volunteer in an MN fashion show. I had no idea what i was doing!!! But I learned pretty fast... which was still slow in the fast paced fashion industry! I was a Mean Green Garment Steaming Machine! I got to see and be inspired by some FIERCE designs! (and some "hot tranny messes"...) and I was very proud knowing i played a tiny part in the final product.

Apparently there is a new BIKE LANE in MPLS. It is the dumbest thing ever. The bike lanes are on the side of the road closest to the meter so you have to park in the middle of the road basically and then walk over the bike lane to pay. I had no idea of this and thought the cars looked foolish parking in the middle of the road... until i got TOWED. I learned the hard way. Now I am teaching you. Learn from my mistake and don't park in the new bike lanes. Maybe they are not the dumbest things ever but I am just mad at getting towed. I hate getting towed.

To close off the month of January, I helped raise over $5,000 for Haiti relief with Stevie Ray's "Laugh for Relief" comedy show! It was a blast! Invited to play with us were improv veterans from "back in the day" who were brilliant. I look forward to getting as good as they are and am so lucky to work with my improv team! We held our own, played well with others and put on a dang good comedy show*

Practicing Improv has helped me become a better listener, staying present moment to moment. Comedy is about being truthful, not about being cynical, as Conan O'Brien said in his final Episode of the Tonight Show. In honor of Conan, I am reminded to cherish every second cuz you never know when NBC will shut you DOWWWN! I encourage everyone reading this to do the same.
